BarisalNews Desk: Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon wants another five-for in Test cricket. But he fells that, this is the toughest job nowadays. Lyon said that came in a tough way as he termed the first day of the Chittagong Test against Bangladesh his toughest in career.
In indian sub-continent spinners are expected to bowl most of the overs in a Test. But the weather with over 30 degree Celsius and humidity of over 90 per cent seemed to take a toll at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.
Most successful spinner for Australia is Lyon. He ended the day with 5-77 by bowling 28 overs to reduce the hosts to 253-6.
‘That’s up there with the hardest Test match cricket days I’ve ever had,’ said Lyon after the end of day’s play in Chittagong on Monday.
Lyon became only the second spinner in Australian history to open the bowling in a first innings of a Test and he seemed to create all sorts of problems to Tigers’ top order as first four batsmen became his victim.
Lyon, who took nine wickets in Dhaka, found the rhythm from the word go and though there was not much turn in the fresh wicket with the hard cherry he maintained immaculate line to trouble the hosts.
